Senior Industrial Designer

Relay Medical is an evolving “Integrated MedTech Accelerator” platform, headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. We develop and productize multiple products and projects concurrently through the guidance of a multidisciplinary team.  

Our team is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Senior Industrial designer to join our Product development team.  

The Senior Industrial designer will be the UX champion for both medical and non-medical at various stages of the product development lifecycle for both hardware and software applications.

What we’re looking for

  • Ability to use Design strategy, insightful systematic methods including in-depth Human factors methodologies to draw out the product and end-user needs, translating them into actionable product and system requirements.

  • Ability to communicate your idea’s both visually and verbally as if you are an expert storyteller

  • Ability to listen intently, and react with careful confidence and humility

  • Exceptional sketching and illustrations skills

  • Ability to develop stunning product renderings using Photoview 360, or Keyshot

  • Strong Photoshop and illustration skills

  • Experience leading product development projects from initial concept all the way to manufacturing

  • Ability to work collaboratively, without letting your ego get in the way

  • Ability to manage uncertainty constructively and generate options to move forward

  • Someone who is the first to take responsibility, and last to take credit

  • Someone with an interest in making the world better, and passion to support the success of our business units

  • Lead problem solving sessions in a highly innovative environment

Requirements

Minimum 5+ years’ experience in product development within industries such as medical and assistive devices, health, wellness, and safety-related consumer goods to support critical project planning inputs that align with the core project goals

  • Several years’ experience with Solidworks specializing in Surfacing and complex assemblies

  • BA, BS or MS in Industrial Design or a combination of education and experience
